Mister Consistency.
Absent from last week’s Group 5 race, Julian returned this week and was utterly dominant, finishing almost five laps ahead of second-placed Josh. Josh took the point for fastest lap, but it was scant consolation. He undoubtedly has the speed, but at present can’t match Julian’s consistency in Sideways Group 5, Julian having finished on the top step of the podium in all but three of the Group 5 races he’s contested since the beginning of 2019. That’s a mightily impressive record.
In a race that didn’t see many changes of overall position, the highlights were Ed overtaking Terry in the final heat to take fourth overall, and Martin’s breakthrough to achieve three good heat results.
Martin, who’s determinedly been chipping away and improving his driving over the last several months, finally saw it all come good in his group’s first three heats, his reward being a second place and two thirds. He didn’t do so well in his dreaded red and green lanes, but nonetheless it was an encouraging performance. Well done Martin. Keep it up.
