Classic Classics.
Ten drivers turned up for this week’s NSR Classic race, which for once was a pretty uneventful affair despite some great racing lower down the field.
Josh had wheeled out a new Porsche 917/10, a car previously dismissed by most racers as uncompetitive due to the weight and position of its huge rear wing, but he’d had other ideas and had built what he hoped would be a race winner.
Initially it looked as if he might be on to something, a Heat 1 win – by a mere 0.15 seconds from Julian in a 908/3 – and another close battle in Heat 2 leaving him just 0.04 behind going into Heat 3. The early promise didn’t last though, Josh slowly dropping away in the later heats to finish the evening 2nd overall, six seconds behind Julian. Not bad for a new car, but not quite good enough.
The best racing was the fight for 6th to 8th places between Terry, Ed and Neil, the trio finishing in a different order in five of their six heats, Terry ahead in three, Neil twice and Ed once. This was classic NSR Classic racing. Best of all, we’ve got more of the same to look forward to next week. Can’t wait.
