20/02/20: NSR/Scaleauto GT3 – GTC

GTC.

With no racing last week, it was a welcome return tonight for NSR/Scaleauto GT3. In the paddock, Team Green’s preparations were looking unusually serious. Arrive-and-Drive specialist Neil, abandoned for the evening by his holidaying mechanic, was spotted on the drivers’ rostrum running a lot more pre-race practice laps than his usual half-dozen. “Hmm, Neil means business” was the whisper amongst the drivers, and so it proved.

Heat two, Neil’s first, and he and Terry left the others in their wake. For lap after lap, barely a car’s length separated them, Terry’s menacing Corvette C7.R the big bruiser alongside Neil’s svelte Nissan R89C.

Er, what? Slot.it Nissan R89C? In NSR/Scaleauto GT3? You couldn’t make it up. Nine drivers present, eleven laps completed plus goodness knows how many pre-race practice laps, and nobody had noticed that Neil was driving the wrong car. The club membership’s average age may be the wrong side of youthful and its eyesight correspondingly dodgy, but you’d think at least one person would have noticed. Maybe instead of scrutineering, we need to run eye tests. Or a GTC class. Now there’s a thought…

Next week, NSR Classic, featuring a Fly truck, Scalextric MG Maestro and two Ninco karts. Should make for a great spectacle.
